The Worship and Music Committee is proud to announce a new worship service that will happen in The Well on the fourth Sunday of the month starting February 7, 2016. We have decided to call it “12:15 Encounter” because the service will begin at 12:15 pm and it will be based on Jesus’ Encounter with the Woman at the well in the fourth chapter of John’s Gospel. (Catching title isn’t it?)
You might be asking what does this mean? Instead of having a sermon this alternative worship service will have conversations around the Word. It is through the many conversations (typical in a coffeehouse environment) that we seek to encounter Jesus as the Woman at the well did. We also plan to have music to set the tone for the Word to be heard and applied to our daily life. But one shouldn’t think of music that mimics a band playing loudly like at a Rock Concert but more like music conducive for a coffeehouse environment with one or two or at most three musicians playing.
You might ask “Who’s the target audience for this alternative worship service?” The answer is anyone who hungers for an encounter with Jesus in a non-threatening, non-traditional way. We will be providing a light lunch for the 12:15 Encounter as to encourage those who attended the 10:45 am service to stay for the 12:15 pm service in the Well.
