The Durfee Lecture Series will be October 14 & 15. Dr. Leonard Sweet will be presenting a workshop on Saturday, October 14 at 9:00 a.m., and giving a lecture at 7:00 p.m. Dr Sweet will also be the featured speaker on Sunday, October 15. Heritage Sunday will be October 29. A pancake breakfast will be served from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. There will be special music from the choir, organ, and bagpipers. There is one service this day, at 10:45 a.m. Archives will be open from 9:00-10:15 a.m. We welcome all to join us for this special event that celebrates our Scottish and Protestant heritage.
Angulo Concert Series
The November 5th concert is being held in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. It will feature the Wichita Chamber Chorale singing J. S. Bach's Cantata #80, "A Mighty Fortress is Our God." The text for the familiar hymn was written by Martin Luther, who on October 31, 1517, penned a document, “95 Theses.". The Chorale will also sing a few familiar anthems and hymns. The Reuter pipe organ and four-manual custom Rodgers console will also be featured. The concert is being underwritten by First Presbyterian's Angulo Organ Concert series and the Wichita Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Admission is free to the public. The concert begins at 3:00 PM and should last about an hour.
